SIGIR was held in Boston in 2009, in Geneva in 2010, and the 34th conference will take place in Beijing in July 2011.

The hotel that SIGIR 2011 will be held in was the Olympic Family Hotel and the headquarters for the International Olympic Committee during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Its a 5-star hotel and has been a city landmark since 1900. Ideally situated at the crossroads of the famous Chang An Avenue and the district of Wangfujing, the SIGIR venue is in the heart of the city, just a few minutes from the famous Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.
